Aim

With the LMK Color interior or also the LMK interior camera, we are able – on the basis of many years of our experience in night design measurements in the automobile and avionics fields (manufacturers just as suppliers) – to provide a standard system containing all necessary hardware and software components at a reasonable price.

Hardware

Based on the standard hardware of the LMK 98-3 Color or also LMK 98-3 system, a lens optimised for night design is used. It has a large orifice so that the measuring times for the relatively low luminances are short. The minimum measuring distance of the focusable lens is about 280 mm. The resulting object field amounts to > 30 x 22 mm, permitting the reliable evaluation of structure widths up to 0.2 mm.

A calibration certificate is supplied with the systems. Furthermore, the data of the spectral adaptation (Excel file containing the relative spectral sensitivities) and measuring values for spectral correction factors (measured on 10 different narrowband LED light sources frequently used in the field of night design) are also contained.

The LMK interior package is delivered with a TT50 lens (focusable).

Software

For the systems of the types LMK Color interior and LMK interior, a special version of the LMK 2000 software is employed which contains only those functions required in the field “interior”.

  • capturing of luminance- and color images with multi picture measurement
  • evaluation of luminance- and color images with inspectors, therefore the standard inspector and the symbol object are available
  • management of measurement regions and cursors without limits to the standard version
  • all capabilities for displaying the results are available
  • loading and saving of measuremnt results and protocols
  • creating of reports

Thus, for characterising background-lit symbols, not only the mean luminance but also the minimum and the maximum as well as the position of these symbols are of interest. For recording these measuring values, the symbol object is used. The luminous region of the symbol is determined by means of an adapted threshold algorithm. The minimum and the maximum of all local means are displayed, together with their position, as additional measuring values. The spot size just as the minimum distance to the edge of the symbol can be set.

This special software version includes all necessary program parts for the evaluation in the field of night design. It provides an easier access to the evaluation functions by a clearly arranged menu structure.
